Joanna Luong

Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Mental Health Services Director, Amaze Health

I take a holistic approach with my patients while leading the day-to-day work of our mental health team and driving the programs that help us better serve the people in our care.
I work primarily with adults, with a special focus on postpartum and maternal mental health and ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder).
My approach is curiosity-driven, holistic and I believe less is often more. I like to explore each person's story, and empower them to build on their strengths, not just rely on medication. I blend my background of family medicine with psychiatry along with adding therapy to my practice.
I earned my doctorate from Southern Illinois University and have specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), ADHD symptom management, Internal Family Systems, Trauma-informed care, Dialectial Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Listening has always been the heart of how I care for people. I spent five years as an ER nurse, then became a Family Nurse Practitioner in urgent care and family medicine. I have been a psychiatric nurse practitioner, leading the mental health department at Amaze, for the past six years.
At Amaze Health, I get to be the kind of provider I always wanted to be, one who does what is right for the patient, every time.
